Shelbyville, IN, June 28, 2024 – The City of Shelbyville Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce the launch of a Community Input Survey as part of the development of its 5-Year Strategic Plan. This survey aims to gather valuable insights and opinions from the community regarding updates, enhancements, and new developments within the parks and recreation system.The input from this survey will be instrumental in creating the priority structure for the 5-Year Strategic Plan, ensuring that the community’s needs and desires are at the forefront of future planning.

The planning committee for the 5-Year Strategic Plan includes:

  • Adam Rude, Director of Planning
  • Betsy Means-Davis, City Councilwoman
  • Gary Nolley, President of the Parks and Recreation Board
  • Jenna Martin, Director of Public Relations
  • Trisha Tackett, Director of Parks and Recreation

The survey is available in both English and Spanish and will remain open through July 31, 2024. Community members can access the survey online or request print copies at the Department of Parks and Recreation’s front desk.

Last night, June 27, 2024, the first of two public input sessions was held. These sessions are designed to be interactive and conceptual, providing a platform for residents to share their visions and suggestions. The second session is scheduled for this fall, with the date to be announced.

The research, development, and consultation process for the 5-Year Strategic Plan is being led by HWC Engineering, a respected firm known for its expertise in community planning and development.

“The involvement of our residents is crucial to the success of our parks and recreation system. We urge everyone to take a few minutes to complete the survey and share their thoughts,” said Trisha Tackett, Director of Parks and Recreation. “Your feedback will help shape the future of our community spaces.”
