As a planning intern for the City of Shelbyville’s Planning Department, Maria is able to assist the members of the department with GIS inventory, filing systems, and other related projects. Maria is from McCordsville, Indiana and is currently completing her undergraduate at Ball State University to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning and Development. She became interested in Urban Planning because she wanted to be involved with community development to help those in underserved communities. While at Ball State, she has been able to work heavily on projects in the city of Fort Wayne and Muncie. Doing demographic research, redevelopment proposals and site planning is the range of work she has completed as a planning student.
