Incident: Arrest on Attempted Murder Charges

 

During the early morning hours on December 29th, 2023, a 16-year-old juvenile was walking home when a vehicle approached him.  Shots were fired from the vehicle striking the juvenile several times.   The vehicle left the scene and the juvenile was able to get help.

 

Officers arrived and secured the scene.  The juvenile was transported to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment.  Detectives arrived on scene and began processing the scene.  After countless hours and dedication to this case by the Detectives and the Shelby County Prosecutor’s office, the arrest of Alexander Russell, 23 years old from Shelbyville, was made on the charge of Attempted Murder.  

 

On February 9th, 2024, a search warrant was executed by the Shelbyville Police Department SWAT Team and the Detectives working the case.  Alexander Russell was located at the residence and taken into custody on the charge of Attempted Murder. Russell was booked into the Shelby County Jail.

 

We want to thank everyone who has been a part of this case to this point.  It was due to the hard work and dedication to their professions that a case like this can result in the arrest of a suspect.
