Shelbyville, IN – [July 17, 2024] – The City of Shelbyville is excited to announce the next phase of the McKay Road Overlay Project. Beginning tomorrow, construction crews will start the installation of a new storm sewer near the Berwick Drive and McKay Road intersection. This essential infrastructure upgrade will progress eastward along the south side of McKay Road.
To accommodate the construction work, traffic patterns on McKay Road will be temporarily adjusted. The road will be reconfigured to feature two 10-foot lanes on the north side and one 10-foot work lane on the south side. At certain times, flaggers will be present to manage one-way traffic flow, and residents and commuters should anticipate potential traffic delays in this area.
“We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we continue to make significant improvements to our city’s infrastructure,” said John Kuntz, City Engineer. “These upgrades are crucial for the long-term safety and functionality of McKay Road.”
