Downtown Special Event Permit

In 2021, the redevelopment of the Public Square was completed, and the space was made available to serve as a gathering and celebration space for residents and visitors of the community. To host a special event within the Downtown, please use the resources below. The Public Square has a number of new facilities that can be used during the event, some of those include: two stages for shows or live music, four large green spaces, and over 75 conveniently located electrical boxes, just to name a few. 

Policy Guide

The policy guide outlines the requirements and expectations that Special Events must follow. This guide also outlines the application process and what documents are required to be submitted.

Application

The application is a form that must be submitted in order to request use of any facilities on the Public Square for Special Event Use. Fill out each section and provide all additional paperwork that is required.

Detour Maps

These maps show the different configurations of how roads can be requested to be closed, and the respective areas that can be utilized during those closures. These options should be reviewed in advance of submitting a Special Event Permit application.

Fee Schedule

This document lays out the fees for each service or item for a Special Event. This list includes parade vehicles, trash receptacles, electricity, and other items that may be necessary for an event.

Electrical Plan

These electrical plans identify the type and location for each electrical box on the Public Square, Harrison Street, and Washington Street. Identify what electricity needs that the Special Event will require.

Indemnification

The indemnification agreement ensures that the City of Shelbyville and its employees are not held legally liable for any issues that may arise at a Special Event.

The below calendars show current events booked for both the east and west sides of the Public Square. Please utilize these calendars to determine availability before submitting a Special Event Permit Application.
