Welcome to the McKay Road Overlay Project Updates Page

Project Overview:
New Storm Sewer Installation: We will install 2100 feet of storm sewer on the south side of McKay Road, from Berwick Drive to Theobald Street. This work involves removing curbs and driveway approaches and digging trenches approximately 3-4 feet deep. Your access to home and driveway will only be restricted during pipe installation under your driveway. Contractors have assured us they can install about 150 feet of pipe per day, so any access restrictions should be brief.
Mill and Overlay: The top layer of concrete will be milled off, and a new layer of asphalt will be applied. The road will remain open during this process, though access may be limited occasionally.
Throughout the construction period, you will still have access to your homes. We encourage you to check the preliminary schedule and project updates here on this page.
Attached are maps for a clearer visual understanding of the project area, spanning from Berwick Drive to approximately 500 feet east of Theobald Street.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we enhance the infrastructure in our community. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the City Engineering Office at 317-392-5102.
Updates:
Saw Cutting for the storm pipe will begin today. Traffic will be shifted off the south end of the road but two lanes of traffic will remain open. There will be limited closures as they saw cut across the road and at the intersections of Berwick Drive, Premier Street and Theobald Street. There will also be flaggers at the intersection of Berwick Drive while they do some potholing.
Starting Monday, July 22nd progress will continue east on McKay toward Theobald St.
